COVID-19 & The 2020 Golf Season
April 28, 2020 Update
Good day members and players,
As I am sure most of you are aware, we are able to open the course for play on May 15th!
There have been many new policies and procedures put in place by our provincial government and health officials to safely open and run our facilities. Please see the Covid -19 link for more information.
With the opening date set for May 15th, we have taken into consideration the 2 weeks of play we have lost along with wanting to operate in good faith with the situation everyone is currently navigating through and will be offering all of our memberships this season for $1200 + tax.
We will still offer the new members rate of $1000 as well. (All memberships will go on sale Wednesday, April 29th- they will be available for purchase at the pro shop or over phone) With the cart use only allowing one rider per cart, we are unable to guarantee cart availability, therefore, there will be no unlimited half cart seat passes this season, with the new option of purchasing cart punch cards to be used during the season.
Our driving range and putting green are currently closed until further notice. Members will be able to book online or by phone May 10th @ 6:00am and non-members will be able to begin booking May 12th @ 6:00am.
We are currently putting the last touches on our new app which will be launched next week, please watch for details on our website and Facebook page.
It will take some time to get used to the new changes at the course, please take note of the following:
There will be a booth set up where you will do your first check in – here you will confirm your tee time, order your beverage and food and confirm if you have a cart. Once the group ahead of you has teed off you will be radioed in for your tee time. Please ensure you are not arriving at the course no more than 15 mins prior to your tee time.
Payment will be made outside the pro shop – we will accept credit or debit payments on all purchases on the wireless device provided. Please note, the debit/credit machine will be sanitized after every use and will offer the tap option. There will also be e-transfer options available as well.
All beverage and food orders will be “take out/curbside” orders. These can be called into the clubhouse at any time and will be available to be brought out as a pick up option. Please take into consideration that we will still have the food and beverage options available, therefore, there will be no outside food or beverages (including alcohol) brought into the course.
All of our staff will be properly trained in sanitizing and proper cleaning and disinfecting practices.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be no Leagues and no Tournaments, therefore all Sr Men’s and Ladies leagues will be cancelled until further notice along with Men’s night not running Wednesday evenings. All tournaments will remain on the booking list until we reach a two week out date to either cancel or re schedule.
***We will be hosting a social distancing course cleanup day at the course Wednesday, May 6th @ 10am. We will have bags available for everyone, if you could bring your own gloves and masks(if you wish) please do so. There will be sanitizer and cleaner on site. All cleanup will be taking place around the course and it is very much needed. Please let me know if you are able to join us.
Thank you to everyone for your understanding and for your patience as we venture through our new normal and we look forward to offering the game of golf as an option for our community to safely enjoy as of May 15th.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me via email or phone 693-1921
April 14, 2020
With the recent cancellation of our AGM we would still like to keep you all informed of what our 2019 season looked like and what to expect in 2020. Please find attached some of the main discussion items that were on our agenda.
Please note, with the direction from our government and provincial health officials, we are still closed until further notice, although, with the positive numbers Saskatchewan is showing and the efforts being put in by our province and community we might see some good news coming from government in the near future. With the weather hopefully starting to cooperate next week, we will be starting the maintenance and preparation of the course….Please take note that with the unknown season ahead, we are working with three staff at the moment and will be doing everything we can to have the course ready for when we do receive the green light to open up, although, please take into consideration that with the limited resources and employees on hand there may be areas that aren’t considered priority and will be taken care of once we are able to see a revenue stream come in. These are difficult times for everyone and we very much appreciate your understanding as we transition through the unknown while planning for the 2020 season.
WHILE THE COURSE IS CLOSED, THERE WILL BE ABSOLUTELY NO PLAY – we need to work together to follow the direction given so we can flatten the curve and get back out on the course when it is given the go ahead!
If you have any questions or concerns on the attached documents please contact me at any time.
Thank you for all of your support – Stay healthy and safe

The spread of the COVID-19 virus around the world has raised concerns for everyone in these trying times. As we all look forward to the golf season, it is evident that there will be delays, hurdles and changes as we navigate our way through the unknown. The Hillcrest Golf Course recognizes that the number one priority during these times is the well-being of our staff and customers. We want you to know that your health and safety will remain our top priority as this situation continues to evolve.
Currently, we are excited and looking forward to the 2020 golf season however we are unsure at this time how or if COVID-19 will affect our opening date. We will be sure to provide continuous updates and communication as time gets closer and we have a better idea of what our 2020 season may look like.
In keeping with the interest and well-being of our staff and customers, we will be implementing a number of policies and procedures for the upcoming golf season. Please take the time to read through them and understand the importance of following all changes.
Current Plan for the Opening of the 2020 Season:
The provincial and federal government regulations will have an impact on when or if we are able to open. As of now, we continue to plan to open for the season as usual, which will primarily be weather dependent.
As days progress, during this unknown time, we will strictly adhere to guidelines established by local, provincial and federal governments.
Discussion is underway concerning membership fees, green fees, corporate packages and advertising opportunities with the potential of a shortened golf season.
Our Precautionary Steps to Stop the Spread:
Appropriate signage will be placed around the course outlining the social distancing guidelines in place.
Signage informing members/guests of any operational changes will be clearly placed at entrance with any daily updates that might occur.
Increased frequency of cleaning, sanitation and disinfecting of all locations, especially high traffic areas such as counter surfaces, tables, public restrooms, door handles, golf carts, flagpoles, and more.
Educate staff on hygiene, sanitation and food handling, and its impact of preventing the spread of communicable diseases.
Hand sanitizer will be readily available throughout the golf course and around the pro shop.
All transactions will be done online, by phone or by debit/credit only. No cash transactions at this time.
One person per cart unless from the same household.
Employees on site will be kept to a minimum, please note we will be providing the best possible service during this time with our limited resources.
Tee time bookings may be lengthened between each group to prevent groups waiting to go out next.
All flagsticks will remain in the hole at all times, please do not remove – there will be sleeves placed in the holes to allow you to access your ball without touching the pole.
All bunker rakes will be removed. Please feel free to improve your lie.
All ball washers will be covered until further notice.
Our Expectations of you the golfer:
If you have a cough, fever or have been in contact with someone for is not feeling well, please do not join us at our facilities.
Please book online, on our app or by phone
Practice social distancing (~ 6 feet apart) In the parking lot, around the proshop, at tee boxes, in the fairways and on the greens, etc….
Please bring your own golf towels and hand disinfectant as an extra precaution.
Do not shake hands at the beginning or end of your round of golf, instead opting for an elbow bump.
Refrain from picking up balls that aren’t yours as you don’t know who they belong to or where they’ve been.
If you are riding in a golf cart, ensure that your cellphone and personal property remain in your golf bag as much as possible – away from high-contact areas of the cart.
As the golf season approaches, the staff at the Hillcrest Golf Club will continue to monitor the recommendations of government and health officials as well as industry best practices and pass along relevant information and updates as necessary.
On behalf of the entire Hillcrest Golf Club Staff and Board of Directors, we hope you are all staying safe, healthy and inside so that we can do our part in limiting the spread of COVID-19.
